Environmental Groups Give Intel Corp. Notice of Intent to Sue on Alleged Violations

Two environmental groups have sent Intel Corp. a notice of their intent to sue over alleged Clean Air Act violations based on the company's admitted failure to reveal to state regulators years of fluoride emissions at two manufacturing sites in the suburbs of Portland, Ore. The Oct. 22 letter, which gives 60 days of notice, said Intel, which is in the process of a $3 billion expansion program at its Ronler Acres site, didn't inform the state Department of Environmental Quality that it emits fluorides in its Oct. 1, 2010, notice of intent to construct the expansion.
