The Environmental Protection Agency plans to incorporate the use of green infrastructure such as grassy swales, porous pavement, rain gardens and other measures as options to minimize stormwater runoff from newly built and redeveloped sites in its stormwater proposed rule expected in early 2014. The EPA said it encouraged the use of these approaches to address stormwater in its latest national-green infrastructure strategy, released by EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe Oct. 21 at a green infrastructure summit in Syracuse, N.Y., which ran Oct. 21-22.
