Ethanol, Petroleum Industries Ask EPA To Reduce 2013 Cellulosic Ethanol Mandate

Ethanol producers joined the petroleum industry in calling for the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce the cellulosic ethanol blending requirement of 14 million gallons for 2013 in their comments on the proposed renewable fuel standard rule. The Renewable Fuels Association urged EPA in its comments to reduce the proposed cellulosic requirement "to better coincide with the latest projections of actual production" at the first commercial-scale production facilities, which are expected to begin operation this year.
