EPA Proposes Lower Sulfur Content As Part of Tier 3 Gasoline, Emissions Rule

The Environmental Protection Agency proposed March 29 to reduce the allowable sulfur content of gasoline to 10 parts per million, harmonizing federal standards with California regulations. The current standard is 30 ppm.EPA said the proposal, known as the Tier 3 standards, also includes new volatile organic compound, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter emissions standards for new light- and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as new evaporative emissions standards.
