Greenhouse gas emissions allowances sold for $13.62 a ton in California's second auction of permits for its cap-and-trade program, according to results of the sale released by state officials. The settlement price for the 12.9 million allowances, which can be used beginning this year and through 2020, sold in the Feb. 19 auction topped the $10.71 per ton floor price the California Air Resources Board set in December for 2013, officials said Feb. 22 (43 ER 3146, 12/7/12).
