Initiatives to Ban Shale Gas Drilling, Fracking On Ballots in Four Ohio Municipalities

A record number of citizen initiatives to ban shale gas drilling and fracking are on the ballot in Ohio municipalities, according to the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. CELDF Ohio organizer Tish O'Dell told Bloomberg BNA Oct. 29 that "community rights" is the unifying force behind the four ballot initiatives, that is, the desire of local citizens to have a voice in "the future direction" of their municipal environment.
