Recent revisions to a voluntary industry standard for assessing the environmental condition of potentially contaminated brownfields sites haven't cleared up some confusing aspects of the standard, a lawyer told a conference in Philadelphia Oct. 7. When it was updating a 2005 version of ASTM standard E1527, which addresses Phase I environmental assessments at sites, the task force recognized concerns by the lending community that parties need to be alerted that there may be residual contamination at a site, Amy Edwards, a partner with Holland & Knight, said.
