Canada and the U.S. continue discussions about the future of the 50-year-old Columbia River Treaty, but the sides have different ideas about what is fair compensation for operations of Canadian dams and other flood control measures under the pact, participants at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region summit in Whistler, British Columbia, said.
