Science Advisory Panel Suggests EPA Needs More Complex View of Waters' Connectivity

Science advisers reviewing the Environmental Protection Agency's analysis of water body and wetland connections leaned May 2 toward recommending that the agency take into account a greater scope and differing degrees of connections-factors bearing on the jurisdictional reach of the Clean Water Act. The EPA needs to consider not just hydrologic connections but also biological, chemical and human-caused connections, the scientists said during a teleconference of an EPA Science Advisory Board panel.
