Governor Signs Legislation Providing Tax Credit for Alternative Fuel Trucks, Buses

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) signed legislation to provide a new income tax credit for purchases of heavy-duty and medium-duty trucks and buses that run on alternative fuels. The legislation (H.B. 348), which could benefit large commercial fleet operators such as Atlanta-based UPS Inc. and Southern Co. subsidiary Georgia Power, provides a tax credit of $20,000 for the purchase of a new alternative-fuel, heavy-duty vehicle and $12,500 for a medium-duty vehicle, available for two fiscal years beginning July 1, 2015.
