Research Council to Release Assessment Of U.S. Spill Response Capabilities in Arctic

The National Research Council will release a report April 23 that assesses the current science and engineering capacity of the U.S. to respond to an Arctic oil spill. The NRC said the report identifies scenarios for a spill, describes the environmental conditions that would affect response operations, evaluates the effectiveness and limitations of current response tools and technologies, and recommends strategies for prevention and mitigation.
