EPA Says 'Buy American' Water Provisions Apply Only to Projects Funded in FY 2014

The "Buy America" provisions imposed by Congress on the clean water and drinking water state revolving funds will apply only to projects for which assistance agreements or engineering plans and specifications are approved between Jan. 17 and Sept. 30, according to guidance issued by the Environmental Protection Agency. The guidance said the provisions requiring the use of U.S.-manufactured iron and steel products will apply to any project to construct, alter, maintain or repair waste-water treatment facilities or public water systems that use low-interest loans secured through the state revolving fund programs.
