摘要

The U.S. Supreme Court invited the Obama administration in a March 3 order to file a brief expressing its views on an interstate water dispute between Florida and Georgia (Florida v. Georgia, U.S., No. 22ol42, 10/1/13). Florida claims that Georgia's increasing storage and consumption of water from the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River are causing serious harm to the ecosystems of the Apalachicola River and Bay and adversely affecting the area's shellfish industry. In its Oct. 1 motion to file a bill of complaint, Florida asked the Supreme Court to equitably apportion the waters of the basin and to stop Georgia from interfering with its water rights (44 ER 2957, 10/4/13).
