Maryland Regulatory Reform Panel Backs Nutrient Trading, Brownfield Revisions

Efforts to foster a more business-friendly regulatory environment in Maryland should include full implementation of nutrient trading to improve water quality and streamlined guidelines for voluntary cleanup of brownfield sites, a 12-member panel told Gov. Larry Hogan (R). The Maryland Regulatory Reform Commission's initial report, presented Dec. 1, contained 12 recommendations for improving the state's business climate and regulatory processes, including the nutrient trading and brownfields suggestions.
