House legislation that would end the wind production tax credit unfairly targets the wind industry and would create business uncertainty, 85 companies wrote in a letter June 18 to the bill's supporters. "Eliminating the renewable energy Production Tax Credit (PTC) as proposed in H.R. 1901 would take away an effective, business tax incentive that creates jobs, drives rural economic development and reduces energy costs for Americans across the country," the letter said. "Since 2008, the PTC has helped attract over $100 billion in private capital investment in U.S. wind projects." The letter was Signed by companies such as Owens Corning and Vestas-American Wind Technology Inc. and sent to the 20 co-sponsors of the PTC Elimination Act, introduced by Rep. Kenny Marchant (R-Texas) in April (46 ER 1240, 4/24/15).
