摘要

Each of the 50 states can transition to a 100 percent renewable energy infrastructure by 2050, according to a study by Stanford University researchers. Publicly released June 8, the study outlines a state-by-state strategy for moving the U.S. away from fossil fuels to electricity generated by combination of wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and a small amount of tidal and wave power technologies. "The main barriers are social, political and getting industries to change," Mark Z. Jacobson, a Stanford professor of civil and environmental engineering, said in a new release. "One way to overcome the barriers is to inform people about what is possible. showing that it's technologically and economically possible, this study could reduce the barriers to a large scale of transformation."
