Bills to Speed Up Permitting, 'Scrub' Rules Approved by House Judiciary Committee

A bill to streamline federal environmental reviews for major energy, manufacturing and infrastructure projects passed the House judiciary Committee March 24, along with other bills targeting regulatory burdens. Committee Republicans beat back all Democratic amendments before approving the Responsibly and Professionally Invigorating Development Act (RAPID) Act (H.R. 348) by a vote of 15-11. The Judiciary Committee also approved two other bills to cut regulatory burdens: the Sunshine for Regulatory Decrees and Settlements Act (H.R. 712) and the Searching for and Cutting Regulations that are Unnecessarily Burdensome (SCRUB) Act (H.R. 1155).
