Chesapeake Bay Program Issues Plans To Protect Watershed's Animals, Plants

The Chesapeake Bay Program released more than two dozen strategies to protect and restore natural resources in the bay's 64,000-square-mile watershed, including a goal to reduce the level of the poly-chlorinated biphenyls in the bay and its tributaries. The draft strategies released March 16 are designed to achieve 10 broad, mostly aspirational goals established last June by the governors of the six states sharing the watershed and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. The officials are expected to give final approval to the strategies when they meet this summer.
