Dominion Virginia Power Unveils Plans For Solar Power Stations Generating 400 MW

Dominion Virginia Power announced plans Feb. 5 to build multiple large-scale solar power stations by 2020 able to collectively generate 400 megawatts of electrical energy. The company said the cost of technology needed to generate solar power has fallen to the point that company will invest $700 million in the project. "Technology has evolved in such a way that we see a long-term benefit for our customers and will work to lead the way in solar generation," Thomas F. Farrell II, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Dominion Resources, said in the announcement.
