Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) introduced a bill Feb. 4 to cap the amount of ethanol in the gasoline supply and eliminate corn ethanol mandates, as opponents of the renewable fuel standard marshal efforts to reform the law. Goodlatte's bill, which would cap the amount of ethanol allowed in gasoline at 10 percent and eliminate the renewable fuel standards's corn ethanol blending mandate, is expected to be the first in a series of bills intended to repeal or revise the renewable fuel standard following the Environmental Protection Agency's failure to issue any renewable fuel requirements for 2014. The agency also has missed the statutory deadline to issue its standards for 2015.
