Governors in Northeast, Mid-Atlantic Urged To Speed Up Deployment of Electric Vehicles

A diverse set of 67 groups including utilities, private companies, business groups, electric vehicle advocacy groups and environmental advocates asked 11 governors and governors-elect to facilitate faster deployment of electric vehicles in their states. In a letter, the organizations said the 11 Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states should develop financial and non-financial incentives for consumers to buy electric vehicles, work with utilities to establish a favorable environment for electric vehicle adoption, increase investment in charging station infrastructure, expand consumer education programs and lead by example in purchasing electric vehicles for state fleets.
