Major energy legislation signed by Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) is a "game-changing moment" that will reduce carbon pollution, increase renewable energy use and create thousands of clean-energy jobs in the state, legislative advocates said. Rauner Dec. 7 signed the bill twice in two communities with economies that stand to directly benefit from the bill. The Future Energy Jobs bill (SB 2814) essentially subsidizes two nuclear power plants operated by Commonwealth Edison, the largest energy utility in Illinois and a subsidiary of Chicago-based Exelon Corp., in those two cities for 10 years.
