摘要

The Department of Energy agreed to process more than 36 million gallons of liquid hazardous and radioactive waste at the Savannah River site by 2022 under a deal it has reached with South Carolina over cleanup delays. According to Shelly Wilson, the federal liaison for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, the agreement represents a significant part of cleanup efforts at the former nuclear weapons material site. The deal impacts "a huge volume of legacy and radioactive waste," she told Bloomberg BNA Nov. 1.
