Environmental groups are increasing pressure on the Senate to reject a motion to go to conference with the House on energy legislation as Democrats consider whether to throw their support behind holding a formal negotiation. The League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, and 350.org were among a coalition of 24 groups who wrote the Senate June 28 in opposition to reconciling the two bills, saying in a letter the House bill "is a radical giveaway to polluting fossil fuel industries that would also undermine the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, and other bedrock environmental laws."
