Vermont Law Brings New Rules Governing Wind Turbine Noise, Siting of Energy Projects

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin (D) signed a bill (S. 260) June 13 that sets noise standards for wind turbines and gives towns new authority over where to site wind and solar projects. The Legislature approved the bill in a special session June 9, following a day-long standoff in the House by Republicans, who objected to the noise standard, which they said is too high.
