Maryland Challenges Virginia's Approval Of Permits for Dominion's Coal Ash Ponds

Maryland officials are seeking judicial review of the recent approval by Virginia regulators of a permit that allows Dominion Virginia Power to discharge treated water from coal ash ponds at its Possum Point Power Station into a tributary of the Potomac River. Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh (D) filed the notice of appeal Feb. 15, indicating that the matter would be taken to the Circuit Court for the City of Richmond.
