Western States Pass Measures on Drought; Eastern States Enact Stormwater Legislation

Western state legislatures were active in the water area in 2015, addressing water rights, drought management and conservation and project funding, among other issues. Eastern states, including New Jersey and South Carolina, passed laws addressing wastewater and stormwater. Several states also banned the manufacture and sale of microbeads, tiny plastic particles used in personal care products including toothpaste and face wash, but these laws have been superseded by a federal ban signed into law by President Barack Obama Dec. 28 Below is a state-by-state list of regulatory activity addressing water issues.
