Cleanup Plan for Toxic Texas Site Less Protective, Companies Say

International Paper and McGinnes Industrial Maintenance Corp. are objecting to EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt's plan for the first of nine Superfund 'mega-sites' he's targeted for cleanup. Both companies are the potentially responsible parties the Environmental Protection Agency has identified for the Channelview, Texas, San Jacinto River Waste Pits Superfund site and say Pruitt's Oct. 12 plan is less protective for downstream communities.
