Maiyland Drafts Guidance for Reusing Bay's Dredged Material

The Maryland Department of the Environment released draft guidance for professionals interested in the beneficial reuse of material dredged from the Chesapeake Bay, including Baltimore Harbor's navigation channels. Most of the material "is made up of clean sediments that can be used on the land as soil amendments or fill, or in water to create aquatic habitat," MDE said in a March 30 news release. Approximately 5 million cubic yards of sediments are dredged annually in Maryland's portion of the bay.
