Michigan Budget Could Pump Cash Into Lead Pipe Replacement

Lead service lines at more than 10,000 Michigan homes could be replaced annually under a water infrastructure plan in Gov. Rick Snyder's (R) 2019-2020 budget proposal. The proposal released Feb. 7 calls for a new $5 fee on some residential users during the next two decades that would pump $110 million annually into drinking water projects and up to $75 million into lead pipe replacement.
