House Panel to Consider Bills on Offshore Oil Drilling Oversight

The House Natural Resources Committee will consider legislation and hold an oversight hearing next week on offshore oil drilling following the Oct. 2 oil spill off the California coast, thepanel announced today.1. Lawmakers will mark up the Offshore Pipeline Safety Act (H.R. 2643) and the Offshore Accountability Act (H.R. 570) on Oct. 132. The Energy and Mineral Resource Subcommittee, led by Democratic Rep. Alan Lowenthal, will have an oversight hearing Oct. 14 on the abandoned offshore fossil fuel infrastructure.Part of Lowenthal’s congressional district is affected by the spill.
