Interior Expands Hunting, Fishing Into U.S. Wildlife Refuges

The Interior Department said Tuesday it is opening up millions of acres to hunting and fishing, in some cases for the first time, which would allow the killing of migratory birds and other animals in some refuge areas long considered safe havens for the species. Interior Secretary David Bernhardt announced the expansion-which would give hunters and anglers new access to more than 2.3 million acres within 147 U.S. wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries-at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge in Michigan.
