Pipeline Safety Agency Proposes Tweaks for Oil Spill Regulations

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is following the White House’s mandate to reduceregulations by tweaking requirements for hazardous liquid pipelines.The agency is focusing on notication requirements in oil spill response plans, and records produced during aninspection or investigation (RIN:2137-AF37). Among the proposed changes, the agency would create minimumrequirements for those records to be submitted electronically, instead of on paper. PHMSA announced thechanges in the Federal Register Wednesday.
