Green industries

UK green industries achieved sales of £i22.2bn in 2010-11, up 4.7% on 2009-10, which itself was 4.3% up on the year before. Underlying growth is less rapid after allowing for inflation, but analyst KMatrix still forecasts accelerating annual sales growth over the next five years. Green industries are essential to Britain's transition to a sustainable economy. They manage waste, prevent and clean up contamination, and offer routes to low-carbon fuels, electricity, transport and buildings.
