In 2013 the new Library of Birmingham is due to open. It is set to become a major new cultural destination, rewriting the book for 21st-century public libraries. The 35,000m~2 development includes new updated back of house facilities for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre (the REP), with which the new library will be physically connected. Spread over ten levels, the new library will be a stunning new addition to Birmingham's urban landscape.
