Key Democrats Weigh Epa Emissions Control Powers In Ghg Principles

Several senior House Democrats who favor strict greenhouse gas (GHG) limits have released a set of 'principles' aimed at shaping forthcoming climate change legislation from the House Energy & Commerce Committee, according to congressional sources. The principles are being circulated among other lawmakers to generate support for a steep emissions cap and provisions that would empower EPA to ratchet down those requirements as new scientific evidence about climate change emerges. The principles are outlined in a Dear Colleague Letter from Reps. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Edward Markey (D-MA), who chair the Oversight & Government Reform Committee and Select Committee on Energy Independence & Global Warming, respectively, as well as Rep.
