Frank Pallone (D-NJ), one of several lawmakers sponsoring legislation to reinstate the expired taxes, told a July 20 meeting of EPA union members on Capitol Hill that the bill is currently in the House Ways & Means Committee and that he has asked the committee's acting chairman, Rep. Sander Levin (D-MI), for a hearing, but has yet to receive a commitment. The bill could see action in September or the "lame duck" session after the November election, though Pallone said, "I doubt it."
