Industry groups are raising concerns that EPA's proposed strict approach for applying a ten-fold (10X) safety factor in pesticide risk assessments does not take into account a key National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report on risk reviews that may provide vital suggestions for ensuring the 10X approach is based on best available science.rnThe groups - including CropLife America and the American Chemistry Council - also asked for an extension of time to comment on EPA's proposed policy paper "Revised Risk Assessment Methods for Workers in Agricultural Fields, and Pesticides With No Food Uses." The paper lays out how EPA intends to revise risk assessments for pesticide uses and exposures that are not governed by the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act.
