House GOP Jobs Plan Seeks To Tighten Regulatory Review, Block EPA Rules

House Republicans this fall plan to fast-track efforts to strengthen review of EPA and other agencies' rules while repealing a number of pending air regulations as part of its broad jobs agenda, though the Obama administration and Senate Democrats appear opposed to such efforts. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) Aug. 29 released a memo to GOP lawmakers outlining plans for the party's jobs push this fall, which includes a legislative schedule for repealing a suite of EPA rules and debating a series of regulatory reform bills, including measures to require Congress to approve regulations and ease judicial review of rules under the Administrative Procedure Act (APA).
