EPA Resuming Work On Stalled Rule To Clarify Sewer Overflow Issues

EPA is resuming work on its stalled rulemaking to clarify Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting requirements for a slew of sewer overflow issues after a slow-down due to budget and staffing issues, a key EPA official says. Connie Bosma, EPA's municipal branch chief in the Office of Water, told a May 9 meeting of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies' (NACWA) National Environmental Policy Forum in Washington, DC, that she hopes the agency will be able to hold a stakeholder meeting in late June to determine how far apart the agency and stakeholders are on the issues.
