Groups Split On EPA Plan To Weigh Groundwater Intrusion For NPL Listings

Industry, environmental groups and states appear split on whether and how EPA should weigh the intrusion of contaminated solids and liquids into structures when determining whether to list the sites on the Superfund list in the wake of a case in New Jersey that showed the agency's current rules do not allow such sites to be listed. In recently filed comments to EPA, states, industry and environmentalists present little consensus on if the agency should move forward with the effort and how, leaving it uncertain how the agency might address the issue.
