EPA Grants GHG Reporting Delay In Response To Industry Data Concerns

EPA is indefinitely postponing a March 31 deadline for companies to submit first-time annual mandatory green-house gas (GHG) emissions reports to the agency's GHG registry, following repeated requests from major industry groups asking for a delay to allow more time to address problems with EPA's GHG data reporting tool.The extension of the reporting deadline to some unspecified date later this year "will allow EPA to further test the system that reporters will use to submit data, and give industry the opportunity to test the tool, provide feedback and have sufficient time to become familiar with it prior to reporting," according to a March 1 EPA statement. EPA "will provide more detail on the intended changes in the coming weeks," the agency says on its website.
