EPA Requires Efficiency In Precedent-Setting GHG Permit For Gas Facility

EPA is requiring the use of highly efficient boilers and combustion practices in the first greenhouse gas (GHG) permit for a natural gas processing facility, while also requiring some facility engines to be powered by electricity rather than gas in order.to cut emissions, a decision industry says will set the bar for other gas plants' GHG permits. The final prevention of significant deterioration (PSD) permit, issued May 24 by EPA Region VI, is also only the second EPA-issued GHG permit in Texas since the agency took over the state's GHG permit program in early 2011.
