Key Biofuel Group Urges EPA To Reduce RFS Targets, Splitting Industry

The ethanol industry's lead trade group is recommending that EPA decrease proposed low-carbon cellulosic and advanced biofuel targets in its renewable fuel standard (RFS) in 2013, setting up a clash with advanced biofuel makers that support EPA's proposed target. In April 7 comments, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) urged EPA to scale back its Jan. 31 proposal that called for refiners to blend 14 million gallons of cellulosic biofuel into the fuel supply in light of a lack of production early in 2013.
