摘要

A top Energy Department (DOE) official is highlighting a broad array of regulations that could curb methane emissions from the oil and gas sector, even as environmentalists continue to urge EPA to directly regulate emissions of the potent greenhouse gas (GHG) from the sector to ensure a "level playing field" for industry. Judi Greenwald, DOE's deputy director for climate, environment and energy efficiency, said during an Oct. 20 panel discussion that the federal government and states have multiple options for rules that would curb methane, including direct and indirect environmental controls, economic regulations, safety rules and efficiency standards.
