EPA Finalizing Updated State Superfund Contracts Model Language

EPA's Superfund office is finalizing updated model language its regions will likely start using next year in formal contracts reached with states at contaminated sites where remedial action is Superfund-financed. The new State Superfund Contracts (SSC) model language will replace language dating back 25 years, and will include new language on state cost-share, cost recovery, institutional controls and on communication between EPA and states, according to EPA officials who spoke Oct. 29 at the Association of State & Territorial Solid Waste Management Officials (ASTSWMO) annual meeting in Bethesda, MD.
