States Eye TSCA Test Methods To Aid PFAS Water Rule Compliance

As EPA weighs drinking water limits for the entire class of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), state regulators are urging the agency to release chemical-specific PFAS test methods - echoing calls for officials to collect those methods under TSCA, and saying they can be used to ensure compliance with state or federal standards. In an interview with Inside TSCA, Julia Anastasio, executive director of the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA), which represents state clean water officials, said she hopes to see the development of supporting material for PFAS rules "happening a little faster" at EPA, including release of analytical methods states could use to test for PFAS in surface water.
