Mid November is very busy for Engineers Australia. In one week,' the Council, National Congress and Annual General Meetings are held, in conjunction with the Australian Engineering Excellence Awards at Parliament House, Canberra. These events are the culmination of a year of endeavour by all office bearers, delegates and staff of Engineers Australia under the leadership of the national president. The events are organised and managed by the staff of National Office and require extraordinary effort from all those involved, particularly as the already packed schedule included an IPENZ liaison meeting, an Audit Committee, and the International Agreement Secretariat and a couple of group dinners as well. I am most pleased to be able to report that all activities, integral to the efficient running of our organisation, met with significant success. Many compliments were received from councillors and congress delegates, as well as other attendees. Such a major program of events requires considerable preplanning, followed by in-depth execution by staff at all levels and a lot of tolerance by the organisers of the events. While most members of Engineers Australia are familiar with their dedicated divisional staff, few have the opportunity to appreciate the support the organisation receives from their national staff, and hence I would like to take this opportunity to present some of them to you.
