Nat Bonacci 1947-2008

Structural engineer nat bonacci worked on many building projects in Sydney and Melbourne, including Council House 2 (CH2). The building received a six star design rating from the Green Building Council as well as Engineers Australia's Sir William Hudson Award. Born in Italy, Natale Bonacci arrived in Victoria when he was four as his family settled at Myrtleford. He moved to Melbourne to study engineering. In 1981 he became one of the founders of the engineering consultancy Bonacci Group. In 1982 he designed the superstructure of Melbourne's Grand Hyatt Hotel. Once he was called on to check a city theatre's balcony during a performance of Mamma Mia! Another time he had to make sure the structure of a world-record-sized fruit cake was safe.
