Technical society writes book for anniversary

The Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA) is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and has published a book on the history of the organisation: The Railway Technical Society of Australasia: The first ten years. All participants at its Conference on Railway Engineering being held in Perth this month will receive a copy of the book. Outgoing executive chairman Ravi Ravitharan will hand over the reins of the society to civil engineer Martin Baggott. The society which succeeded Engineers Australia's National Committee of Railway Engineering has swelled to over 1000 members, of which 15 are corporate. In April it established a chapter in New Zealand. As a result, RTSA is now affiliated with Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand as well as Engineers Australia.
